Youths included in SAIL Hockey Academy

Thirteen young cadets from Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Orissa have been inducted into SAIL Hockey Academy run by SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), today. The cadets were chosen in an all India selection process. With their induction, the strength of the academy has gone up to 32, official sources said. Sail with its rsp situated in the hockey heartland of sundargarh had established sail hockey academy in July 1992 to hone the talents of youths who love hockey. The academy attempts to tap the young talents and impart scientific training to make them players of National and international stature. Birendra lakra, a cadet of this academy was recently chosen to represent India in junior world cup hockey. He was earlier a member of Indian contingent at under-21 test series between India and argentina held in argentina. Cadets of this academy have also won many laurels for sail in various National level tournaments.
